For high-volume micro-SaaS ($10K+/month), you can negotiate lower rates. For low-ticket ($5-$19/month), consider alternatives with lower flat fees.
Sell to US customers only: Stripe (simpler, better DX, lower fees). Sell globally: Paddle (they handle EU VAT, global tax compliance, and fraud liability). Paddle's fees are higher (5%+$0.50) but they're the merchant of record, meaning tax compliance is fully on them. For a solo founder, Paddle can save dozens of hours in tax paperwork.
